Get an insight of what to actually expect when using hypnobirthing.
The experience was truly amazing but think my husband and I were armed with the right tools to deal with it as best we could and without these and without him as a birth partner, the experience would've been very different.
My induced, caesarean birthing experience was by no means negative. I felt safe, empowered and educated. I accepted that my birth plans were out the window and breathed my way through to another plan, which was to surrender wholly and be present. To accept that this was always the way my baby was meant to be birthed.
I didn’t have the “perfect hypnobirthing birth” but I did have a complete understanding of my body, my labour and the power of birth. I knew my rights and what I wanted and what was important to us as a family.
Without my husband, midwife and KG hypnobirthing techniques I wouldn't have had this amazing positive, empowering experience. Practicing my breathing, muscle massages, peri massages every night all seemed like homework at times but all paid off, trusting my gut and not having an induction was the hardest but best decision I made.
My birth was everything I could have wished for in terms of how I wanted to feel. I really did get my dream birth. Despite everything else going on in the world around us, that night, those hours, those moments were so perfect.
In the end I was blessed to be able to home birth and it’s the best decision we made. I sat on my own sofa and fed by baby, I slept in the comfort of my own bed, knowing that my toddler was just in the room next door safe and sound. It really was the best feeling.
From going from an absolute fear of birth to having no fear at all is the greatest gift I’ve ever received.
The entire process was the most powerful thing that my body has ever done, I felt like I could do anything.
It was the most empowering feeling in the world, I am proud to be a woman as I got to experience something so mentally and physically challenging but something I maintained complete control over and I can now carry this in all aspects of my life!
My advice to any pregnant woman out there - embrace your pregnancy journey, recognise your body for the amazing job it does in creating new life, and prepare yourself for bringing a little one into the world whichever way is best for baby.
